January 26, 2013 by ricki the deep freeze I can’t help myself: I must join the parade of bloggers posting shots of the frosty wonderland. I’m glad to see the rains return, but it sure was pretty, don’t you think?
It was pretty, and hard to ignore! You took some great pictures, especially the ones of the trees. I tried, but just couldn’t get the right lighting. I love how it makes them look like they are outlined in white. I’m glad the rain is back too.
Sometimes it takes a digital camera to get us out and about on a chilly day. so worth it !
You really got the best frost I’ve seen in our area, Ricki…I’m so jealous! Our was very pretty…but nothing like that…the first and last photos are my faves…the light in the last one is fab! As much as I enjoyed the run of cool, crisp weather, I’m glad to have the rain back too 🙂
We’ve had it quite easy here in Edinburgh – but yes, so many beautiful wintery pictures to enjoy lately. Something quite enchanting about the garden and the landscape glistening with frost. It’s good too see it go to though!
I love frosty foliage pictures. I think those frosty ferns are especially interesting — very cool!!
Alison~Outlined in rime…lovely, indeed, and now time to move on.
Linda~So comfy by the fireside, but once I get out there, I’m so glad I did.
Scott~And wouldn’t you know…the photos you (and I) like best are the ones R took. To be fair, he happened to hit a moment when the sun broke through. It gets a little colder out here than in town, plus the moist air from the river=better frost.
Angie~Like so many things: happy to see it, glad to see it go.
Janet~The ferns did show off their frosty makeup exceptionally well.
Gorgeous–and for us down this way, so so so exotic! To think, some people get the frosty white cold for many months of the year! Stay warm, and be sure to carry your camera everywhere.
James~You are so right about carrying the camera. I missed a great shot by thinking “Oh, I’ll get it tomorrow”. Same time, same conditions, but the shaggy rime had gone missing. Don’t know how many times I will have to learn this lesson.
Beautiful shots Ricki! I especially loved the one of the sword fern. It was great to have all that nice frost but I’m glad the temperatures have risen!
Peter~Thanks! Several layers lighter on our walk today. The rain even felt good.
Beautiful photos of a lovely place, the frosty bamboo and also grasses in the first shots are just delightful
Claire~That little bit of sunshine makes all the difference.
I’m late to the party, but I must say your frost beat ours here in the lowlands hands down. What gorgeous rimes!
gorgeous photos ricki. we’ve had a *lot* of rain and grey skies here of late; wouldn’t mind a few crisp, frosty (and sunny!) days.
Jane~Which means you can enjoy it vicariously without freezing your buns off.
Erica~I hear you.
