I am extremely fond of snow so we have tons of snow shots. This one made the grade as a vignette because of the way the new shoots on the fruit tree acted like little bowls, holding the snow. If you check in with Anna at Flutter and Hum on Wednesdays, you will get some very astute social commentary to go with her vignettes, plus links to others who participate in Wednesday Vignettes.
A wonderful shot, Rickii!
Thanks, Eliza. The snow is highly photogenic.
Love how the “bowls” hold the snow, Rickii! And, it has such a wonderful horizontal habit. My Cotinus did the same thing, except it remained mostly vertical. I got such a kick out of the snow bowls, too. 🙂
I’m so happy to have a fellow snow lover in the mix. I always fantasize about living in Timberline Lodge.
Ha! That’s great, Ricki! Beautiful photograph. I for one am happy to only see snow in photos. How about you?
I truly felt like I was on a dream vacation, but enough is enough.
Yikes, that’s a LOT of snow! It is very pretty and I’m pleased to see no signs of the broken branches I’ve seen in photos elsewhere.
I was focusing on the beauty of 18″ of snow. A later post will address the many broken branches.
I share your love of snow and your WV is stunning! Unfortunately, up here all we got was really cold, clear weather with no protective snow blanket.
I’m counting on that “protective snow blanket” rumor to prove to be true. We did have some bitter cold before the snow came along.
That is a lot of snow! Beautiful (for a little while). How long does your snow usually last?
Usually a day or two, max. In 2008 we were snowed in for a week (Christmas week) so we got the ‘White Christmas’ thing out of our systems. Now this: highly unusual, but who knows what the new normal will be?
BTW, every time I write a comment an error message appears but it seems that the comment does go through. if you don’t hear from me for a while please let me know because it will mean they have stopped being sent.
Sorry about that. Yes, it does go through (so far) but thanks for the heads-up.
Nice patterns. And the horizontals/verticals, and light against dark. Cool shot!
Your designer chops give special meaning to your praise…thanks!
That looks a heavy burden on the tree?
Heavy indeed…should have been out there in the middle of the night, knocking some of it off, but well…
