I’m taking a different approach to Cathy’s In a Vase on Monday meme this week. The six gardens in the Association of Northwest Landscape Designers (ANLD) were all dressed up for the pre-tour, and most sported flower arrangements. Like the gardens themselves, each had a unique personality.
These gardens are chock full of ideas: plant combos, hardscaping, garden art and structures. The designers, artists and owners will be on hand to answer questions and expound on their concepts and their experiences working together.
The tour happens Saturday, June 28 10am – 4pm and I have a pair of tickets to give away to some lucky local who leaves a comment here. I will need contact information so that I can get these in the mail to you by Thursday morning.
Tomorrow, I will share some of the highlights as I saw them. In the meantime, The Mulchmaid did a comprehensive post and The Girl With A Hammer is also giving away tickets. You can purchase tickets at Portland Nursery, Cornell Farms, Dennis’ Seven Dees, Garden Fever!, Xera Plants or online at www.anld.com.
The crowd was so thick I completely missed most of these arrangements! It’s a lovely tour and your lucky winner will be so pleased to see these gardens!
Beautiful bouquets! I loved touring the gardens last year. Please count me in for your drawing!
Fun idea! I too enjoyed those arrangements, especially the first (your last). My post will be up tomorrow as well…
Well, they may not be your own vase (or are you owning up to one of them?!) but they are vases of flowers picked from their owners’ gardens and you showed them on a Monday, so I would say that is thinking out of the box which I am all for! Like our own vases, there are ideas to be had – and it’s lovely to see good old astrantia amidst the more exotic blooms. Hope Saturday goes well for everyone.
I love the innovative floral concoctions, especially the first one with the Leucospermum! Good luck with your event.
Jane~You seemed to get some great shots despite the crowd. Glad I could show you something you missed.
Laura~So far, you are the only one local and not on the pre-tour, so your chances are good.
Loree~I loved the way that arrangement looked so exotic with mostly things we can grow.
Cathy~ was pretty sure you would be flexible about the “rules”.
Kris~Thanks…I’m pretty sure it will be a success.
we went last year too and would love to checkout the ones this year – count me in
Beautiful arrangements all! Sounds like a great tour! Looking forward to seeing a couple of these during the fling!
Chand~Your name is going in the hopper. Good luck.
Peter~And I’m looking forward to seeing YOU during the Fling.
And the winner is…(drumroll)…Laura! This is the second year in a row that Laura has come out on top. I can’t think of a more deserving couple than Laura and her Pirate, Charlie. Enjoy, you two…but we may just have to disqualify you next year.
Yes, I’m late to the party, as usual. I really like the second to the last arrangement with the Astrantia.
Grace~Always welcome, however late. I’ve never used Astrantia as a cut flower: yet another idea to take away from this tour, and thanks for drawing my attention to it.
Greetings I amm so happy I found your website, I really found you by accident,
while I was looking on Binng for something else, Anyhow
I am here now and would just like to say many thanks for
a remarkable post and a all round thrilling blog (I also
love the theme/design), I don’t have time to look over it all at the moment but I have saved it and also added your
RSS feeds, so when I have time I will be back to read a lot more,
Please do keep up the awesome work.
