The shrub in the background is Euonymus ‘Emerald “N” Gold’. It adds a spark of color to Delusional Drive throughout the year. When Ceanothus ‘Blue Jeans’ joins in the fun, it makes a striking combination.
Across the drive, the blue and yellow theme continues, with mounds of Veronica peduncularis ‘Georgia Blue’ surrounding an occasional clump of the dainiest and latest Narcissus, hawera. Anna, at Flutter & Hum has introduced a new meme called Wednesday Vignette. She has a great eye, so be sure to check her out as she turns it on the garden, and beyond, in search of interesting confluences.
Blue and yellow are a classic combo.
Alison~And deservedly so.
Yes, that is a striking combination! Extremely complimentary colors–the kind of combination that makes you happy just to see it. Thanks for sharing!
Beth~Lots of blue and yellow showing up in vases lately.
That’s a great way to show off the ceanothus–I find that sometimes the blue fades into the background.
Emily~This is the first year that ‘Blue Jeans’ has looked this good. It’s a less showy blue than some of the others, so it needs a little help to look its best.
Oh Ricki – I’m so excited you jumped in and joined us! Isn’t it funny that three out of four vignettes this week feature blue and yellow? (Albeit a chartreuse kind of yellow in yours and mine.) Such lovely spring abundance – love it all, but those Haweras are adorable!
Anna~Been meaning to join you ever since you started this…such a fun concept.
Blue and yellow are perfect together. There are so many interesting memes now it is hard to join in all of them.
Christina~I know what you mean about meme overload. Sometimes I hit two or more in a single post.
Oh, I love those contrasts! Blue and yellow or gold – perfect! Is that Veronica with the Narcissus?
Jason~Yes, it’s Veronica peduncularis ‘Georgia Blue’, started with three 4″ pots…very satisfying.
Blue and yellow is a favorite combination and ‘Emerald and Gold’ is such a great Euonymus for year-round color.
Peter~Once again, our tastes coincide.
Great plant combinations, I love blue and yellow together in plants and decor.
Rona~Seems to be unanimous (the blue and yellow thing).
Nice combinations and a big hands up for the blue/yellow combo from me too.
Angie~Always nice to have your voice chiming in.
I do love blue and yellow. Most of the pots on my patio are in those shades. They remind me of sun and sky or maybe it’s just my Swedish genes coming out. I love those little narcissus. They’re foliage is much thinner than the daffs I’m growing.
Tammy~Everything about those daffys is tinier and more delicate than most. Everyone seems to be on board with the blue & yellow, even without the Swedish connection.
So pretty Ricki. The delicate daffodils look so sweet against the ‘Georgia Blue.’ I like this new Wednesday meme 🙂
Elizabeth~Hard to keep up with all the memes, but this is a good one. Are you diving in?
I love blue and yellow, which is odd because I’m not that fond of yellow by itself. That first pairing is especially nice. I love both those plants!
Evan~Yellow has been an acquired taste for me (primarily soft & pale…still not wild about the brasher yellows). Can pink be far behind?
Great meme, great photos. I love your vignettes, even if they aren’t pink. LOL
Grace~And I love yours even if they ARE pink.
