wednesday vignette

I was drawn to the sharp shadows created by the emerging flower heads on Hydrangea ‘Preziosa’. This one, at Joy Creek, gets more sun than my two plants and is denser and further along in the blooming process. These are easy to propagate by layering so I think I’ll start a couple more to place in a sunnier locale. Click through to see what Anna (Flutter and Hum) has in store with her Wednesday Vignette.

    • They are only this greenish yellow in the very early stages, maturing to a whole range of soft pastels and aging to mauves, puce and dark purples.

  1. Very nice! I will have to look for this locally! With my other hydrangeas I lay branches down and place in dirt with a rock on it and they root. I’ve increased them around our five acres of gardens…

    • I’ll try to keep you updated on the progress of this one…it’s unusual, but starts looking a little more like what we expect as it matures.
